BAINA Bathe
Volume 10.
Sam McIntyre

Our series of BAINA BATHE explores the personal connection to one's daily bathing rituals. Seeking the moments where we allow ourselves to go a little deeper, indulge in time with self, and disconnect from the world beyond the bathroom door.

Sam McIntyre is a Melbourne-based (Naarm country) artist, ceramicist and beekeeper whose whimsical vessels and exuberant eye for image-making resonate with BAINA. Sam shares her bathing rituals with us, their healing abilities, and where she feels most like herself.

"To me, bathing is a time to reflect and let your mind wander and your body feel only the water. No more stress, no more aches, just hot water healing you.

Bathing is an essential in beginning my day. I'm not awake unless I've melted under the hot water in the morning or shed off the loudness from my day before."

Bathing smells; soapy. Feels; encompassing. Sounds; like a waterfall. Tastes; hydrating. Looks; steamy.
I'm more of a shower person as opposed to baths. I love to listen to the water and the acoustics it creates in the bathroom. The world is too loud, so its nice to block it out with the sound of running water."

- Sam McIntyre

"I feel most connected to myself when I'm sitting under the shower, reading a good book in bed with my cats snuggled on my lap, glazing my ceramics with a good playlist or tv series on in the background, or when I'm out beekeeping."

"When bathing, I listen to music that reflects the mood I'm in."
