BAINA Bathe
Vol 34.
Laura Holm

Our series of BAINA BATHE explores the personal connection to one's daily bathing rituals. Seeking the moments where we allow ourselves to go a little deeper, indulge in time with self, and disconnect from the world beyond the bathroom door.

Residing in Copenhagen, Denmark, Laura Holm is a model and creative with an intrinsic love of analog photography capturing authentic moments. She documents her effortless style, thoughtful lifestyle cues, and expresses a deep appreciation for the natural world with her community.

In this volume of BAINA Bathe, Laura reflects how bathing is less of a routine and more of a return — to her self, and often the ocean. Sharing how growing up near the Danish coastline allowed her to develop a deep connection to water, offering her a quiet reset when life feels fast.

"For me, bathing and water hold a secret life — it’s a safe space where I can reconnect and slow down. The ocean means a lot to me; it feels sacred. Whenever or wherever, water always resets me in the best way.

Taking a shower is a reset — a timeout. I always finish with a cold plunge; it reawakens my body and mind. Whenever life and timing allows me to, I take a dip in the ocean, no matter the season. You never regret a dip in the ocean. When I was traveling the most for work, I would always go for a dip if I could — either while away or once I got back home. It resets my mind and even helps with jet-lag."

"As a child growing up in Denmark, we always lived close to the ocean (we’re very lucky to have so much coastline). I have memories of walks by the sea and long summer days spent at the beach. The ocean has always been close — I’ve always loved it and spent a lot of time in the water.

Over the years, I’ve realised how much the ocean means to me — and how important bathing is, both physically and emotionally. I’m still learning and figuring it out. I dream of building a more consistent routine, but for now, it’s something I return to when I need it most."

"I tend to forget how important bathing is to me when life is moving fast, and I don’t always make space for it. But then something reminds me — a feeling, a moment — and I get a little bit better at bringing it into my daily life and rhythm. It’s the feeling in my body that pulls me back to my bathing routine."

"A cherished bathing memory of mine is during COVID, a few of my closest friends and I went winter bathing once a week, always followed by coffee and conversation. It was such an uncertain time globally, but this ritual still stands out as something sacred and special. I’m deeply thankful we were able to share that."

My bathing rituals feels like; a gentle hug, a return to my body, smells like; the season, tastes like; salt, sounds like; gentle wind in the waves.
