Clean, effective ingredients are ethically sourced to provide physiological, cognitive and experiential benefits – supporting the moments that begin and end each day.

CLEAN
Our apothecary line is formulated for a modern bathing practice — clean, gentle and effective. What we leave out is just as important as what we put in — the line is free from ingredients that may compromise skin health, disrupt hormone balance, or are toxic to the body and the environment. What remains is a considered selection of safe, 100% naturally derived and responsibly sourced ingredients, forming a line of everyday bathing essentials — without compromise.

Effects on Skin
I.
Parabens
Commonly used as preservatives to prolong shelf life, parabens are synthetic compounds. However, they have potential to mimic estrogen and interfere with hormone function and can sometimes cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in sensitive skin.
II.
Phthalates
Used to stabilise synthetic fragrance and enhance texture, some types have been linked to endocrine disruption, particularly with prolonged exposure.
III.
Silicones
Synthetic compounds that create a smooth, silky feel, however form a barrier that disrupts the skin’s natural balance. While they provide immediate softness, silicones can trap impurities and clog pores, leading to dullness and compromised skin health.
IV.
Synthetic Fragrance
Often composed of complex chemical blends, synthetic fragrance has been linked to potential hormone disruption and can also be an irritant — causing redness, itching, or dryness.
V.
PEGs (Polyethylene Glycols)
Synthetic compounds used as thickeners and moisture carriers. While they help improve texture and hydration, PEGs can increase the permeability of the skin, potentially carrying impurities deeper and causing irritation over time.
VI.
SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate)
A strong surfactant that creates lather and foam but can strip the skin’s natural oils, disrupting its protective barrier. This often leads to dryness, tightness, and irritation. With frequent use, SLS can weaken the skin’s balance, increasing sensitivity and the risk of inflammation and redness.
VII.
SLES (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate)
A milder surfactant that produces foam and cleans effectively but can still strip natural oils from the skin. Although gentler than SLS, frequent use may disrupt the skin’s protective barrier, causing dryness, irritation, and increased sensitivity over time.
